Downtown in my favorite city in the whole world:

Beth and Andrew mixed their grains of sand on a drop-dead gorgeous Memorial weekend, at a nice, quiet setting on the West Shore. Their wedding was filled with loving details – her rings were remade out of her mother’s, her dress once beautified one of her friends, and her (large selection!) of jewelry was mostly her girlfriends’ as well – both her family and friends made this a very meaningful, intimate wedding ceremony and reception. It is nice to see so much love! I’m sending mine to the both of them.

All I can say is ‘wow’. We went out late afternoon yesterday, and couldn’t have had a more dramatic backdrop, with huge clouds over the East Shore. It was so perfect, and Meghan and J.J. are fabulous in front of the camera (even though they don’t think so!). I’m very excited to be shooting their wedding in August! (Also check out the impromtu tie-the-knot shoot we did.)

Baby Dray’s last shoot before the big first birthday! He’s sooo active and wants to explore everything now. And he babbles and babbles and giggles over every little thing… such a joy.

I’ve known Kathy ever since she helped me-then-clueless put together my own wedding, waaaay back when. After 11 years at the North Tahoe Event Center she has hundreds of weddings under her belt, and quite a few stories to tell – there was the 4-day 450 people Hindu wedding with a parade from Crystal Bay to the Event Center, complete with Sheriff escorts; the groom who nicked his neck shaving the morning-of and Kathy-to-the-rescue used white-out to cover up blood on the collar; the hiring of bag pipers for a Scottish wedding; tasting gelato for another (I bet she enjoyed that!), or planning fire works – if you can imagine it, she can put it together! Having raised 3 daughters and one son, Kathy can handle anything.


Kathy embraces all cultures and will only suggest top notch vendors for your wedding, always your best interest in mind. Her career started with floral design school in lieu of college; she went on to work for Wanda’s in Tahoe City before she was hired by the Event Center. Now with all 4 kids out of college, she went off on her own and started Absolutely Flawless Events.

Tiffiny and Josh are two of the funnest people you’ll ever meet, and up for anything! We went to Sand Harbor since they were all the way out here from Omaha and wanted the blue blue Tahoe blue; the weather was perfect, the lake almost glass, and only few people around – but, of course, since it was a Sunday, the divers were there! I don’t know how they can stand the cold water, but they had this hilarious, typographically highly valuable sign on the beach, and we decided Josh needed some rescuing. Tiffiny couldn’t move him an inch and we all cracked up.
Did I mention Tiffiny jumped into the water off of a rock? I just can’t wait to shoot their wedding!! She did say she’ll do a snow angel in her dress… (yes, it’ll be a winter wedding).

I’m very excited to now – officially – also be offering albums for portraits, and I had a sample made with images of the CarrSick family (yes, these really are their last names), who I shot several sessions with over the course of a year. I just love the cover material, it’s very tactile and soft, classy and subtle (the brown is darker than it appears here, I lit it to show the texture). When I showed it to Stacey – the mom – she teared up – we’ll have to make one for her, too!

Just got my new sample album a few days ago, and it looks fabulous! I almost don’t want to give it away – it will be on display at Trilogy Spa at Squaw Valley. Treat yourself to a spa visit, they’re the best one around, and check out this album with Reflectionz cover! It’s a 10″x10″ flush mount, with a super cute 4″x4″ replica which I will keep.
