Just before Christmas my friend Toni turned 40 and celebrated with a huge bash! His family owns Mountain Forge in Truckee, which perfectly lent itself as a location, since it’s spacious and has no residential neighbors. Check them out if you need any metal work done, they’re amazing! 2008 also marked Mountain Forge’s 40th anniversary.


The evening was a blast for me, I haven’t spoken that much German/Bavarian in a long time; Toni’s dad is from Austria, and the whole Fest was themed accordingly – from the band to the food (Weißwürscht und Kartoffelsalat a.k.a. white sausages and potato salad) to some outfits – that’s right, Lederhosen! I was loving it. German beer, too!

One quick one, before I leave… I wanted to show more, but it is very late… from Drayson’s Christmas shoot, which was so much fun, to see the excitement and fascination in his eyes. So, here’s my favorite:

Something different… no people! Actually from way back in April, when a friend took me around the lake in a Cessna for sunset. It is sooooo beautiful from up above!

The Dorris family was in town, and though they had hoped to get some skiing in, the relatively warm weather we’ve had sure helped with the photos! Here just a few impressions:

Another month older, another hour at the studio - Drayson was back. No superman moves this time, but he’s almost ready to sit on his own! In the baby-milk-breaks I had fun with Ashlyn; and I love their are-we-done-yet faces in the very first photo we took!

A couple of weeks ago I got to enjoy a weekend in Napa with my book club girlfriends - oh so fabulous! I’d heard that it’s beautiful there, and seen many many gorgeous photos, but it’s better than I had imagined (yup, this was my first time in wine country! In California, at least). We got very lucky weatherwise, it was a good 80 degrees, and not too chilly at night.


I couldn’t put my camera down, and I would absolutely love to shoot weddings there! Anyone?

After Drayson showed us his Superman moves, we went outside for some pumpkin photos, where he transformed from Super Dray into Grumpy Frog - so the Drayson-with-pumpkins-shoot turned mostly into an Ashlyn-with-pumpkins and Ashlyn-in-yellow-tutu shoot - not that that’s a bad thing, look how adorable she is!

a.k.a. Superman - you will see what I mean…! I know it seems like a lot of the same, but really look at this kid’s expressions – it was sooo much fun to shoot a baby enjoying his tummy time like this! And really hard to pick only a few out of dozens of adorable images.
And of course, big sis Ashlyn had to to go for a “swim” in the tub again…
